American Traveler is hiring an EKG/Monitor Tech with at least 1 year of experience in cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation for a night shift travel contract at an academic medical center in Maryland.

Details

• Works in a hospital setting providing cardiac monitoring coverage across ICU and telemetry units
• Uses GE monitoring systems and Epic EMR (Epic experience required)
• Performs monitoring for a wide range of rhythms including complex arrhythmias, heart blocks, pacemaker rhythms, and ventricular dysrhythmias
• 3x12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM; 8-hour shift options (7:00 AM–3:30 PM, 3:00 PM–11:30 PM, or 11:00 PM–7:30 AM) may also be considered
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Floating required to all specialties with cardiac monitoring in place within the facility and to a sister facility as needed
• No pre-scheduled on-call shifts required
• 13-week contract, with shorter contract lengths possible for later start dates

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a cardiac monitor tech
• CCI CRAT or NTA certification required; BLS (AHA only) required
• License required if applicable
• Proficiency in 3-lead and 5-lead placement, Lead II and MCL1 setup
• Experience interpreting a full range of cardiac rhythms including AFib, heart blocks (1st, 2nd, 3rd degree), ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation, pacemaker rhythms, and bundle branch blocks
• Ability to measure cardiac intervals (PR, QRS, ST) and cardiac rate
• Experience with GE monitoring systems preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must be comfortable floating with no restrictions across applicable units within scope of experience
• Candidates must reside 50 or more miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• 2 professional references required from most recent employer (1 supervisor/manager and 1 charge RN acceptable)

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include lead placement and setup, continuous rhythm monitoring, interpreting and documenting rhythm strips, troubleshooting monitor alarms, and communicating rhythm variances to nursing and physician staff
• Maintains rhythm strips and printed documentation in the patient chart
• Performs routine equipment maintenance including cleaning and battery changes
• RNs with strong cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation experience will be considered at the approved role rate
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates may be accepted at a reduced local travel rate
• Former travelers must have been away from the facility/system for at least 6 months before returning; former staff must have been separated for at least 12 months
• RTO must be submitted at the time of initial consideration and cannot be changed or added after an offer is made
• CPI certification (Calm Every Storm online version) may be required as part of compliance
