American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist with CVOR experience for a hospital Main OR position in Tuscaloosa, AL, focusing primarily on open heart surgery cases.

Details

• Hospital Main OR setting with a focus on cardiovascular surgery, including open heart procedures
• In the absence of CVOR cases, participation in other surgical specialties is required
• Primary schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Holiday coverage required as needed
• Emergency call participation required every third week for a full 7-day rotation
• Must be willing to float to other units or hospital locations
• EMR system is Meditech (experience preferred but not required)
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of surgical tech experience, with at least 1 year of recent experience in CVOR or cardiovascular surgery
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• One of the following education/training requirements must be met: completed college Anatomy and Physiology I, certified Central Sterile Processing Technician, completed Central Sterile Processing certification, or completed a hospital-approved Surgical Tech certificate course
• AHA BLS or Red Cross BLS certification required
• Active state or compact license required if applicable — no pending or temporary licenses accepted
• No hits (past or current) on licensure allowed

Additional Information

• Provide compassionate patient care under the supervision of an RN, maintaining standards of surgical practice and fostering positive relationships with patients and families
• Assist with open heart surgery as the primary procedure, with cross-coverage in additional surgical specialties as needed
• Solid navy scrubs required
• Virtual orientation will include competency-based modules; no pre-start HealthStream modules required
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rates with no radius restrictions
• Two professional references from within the last year, a current driver's license, and SSN documentation are required for consideration
