American Traveler is hiring a Sterile Processing Technician with 2 years of experience and Epic proficiency for a 13-week travel assignment at an acute care hospital in California requiring Trauma Level I experience.

Details

• Work setting includes an acute hospital OR and ambulatory surgery center environment
• Performs decontamination, prep and pack, sterilization, case cart picking and storage, and distribution of sterile instrumentation
• Processes a wide range of endoscopes including bronchoscopes, colonoscopes, EGD scopes, EBUS, EUS, enteroscopes, ERCP scopes, flex sigmoidoscopes, TEE probes, uteroscopes, and cystoscopes
• Handles specialty equipment processing across multiple surgical specialties including cardiac, orthopedics, robotics, neurology, OB/GYN, urology, vascular, transplant, and more
• Uses sterilization systems including steam, gas (ETOH), Steris, and Sterrad, as well as IUSS and biological/chemical indicators
• Charting system is Epic; experience is preferred
• Schedule is 5x8-hour shifts; both day (0800–1630) and night (2300–0730) shifts noted
• Weekend rotation required; no on-call requirement

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician
• CBSPD or IAHCSMM/HSPA (CRCST) certification required
• BLS preferred (AHA-issued and in hand at time of consideration)
• Trauma Level I experience required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• CA license required if applicable
• Proficiency in aseptic technique, case cart management, loaner/consignment tray processing, and sterilization wrapping procedures
• Experience with automated endoscope reprocessors (AER), ultrasonic cleaners, and washer/sterilizers
• Two supervisory references from within the past two years required for consideration
• 7-year work history verification required for all candidates
• Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates; local candidates within 50 miles are accepted at a local rate

Additional Information

• Decontaminates, assembles, and sterilizes surgical instrument sets and trays across a broad range of specialties
• Manages case cart picking, loaner and consignment trays, and preference card fulfillment
• Monitors and documents sterilization processes using biological and chemical indicators
• Orientation includes non-billable e-learning modules averaging 1–5 hours
• Only one holiday RTO request will be approved for the duration of the contract
• Previous employees must have been separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
