American Traveler is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) with tertiary setting experience for a day shift position at a large, off-site reprocessing center serving multiple facilities in the New York area.

Details

• Large, off-site reprocessing center providing sterile processing services for 9 facilities, including tertiary sites and ambulatory surgery centers
• Facility also supports emergency services for the surrounding area
• Day shift, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Must be able to rotate through all areas, including decontamination
• Uses STERIS washers and autoclaves
• Tracks instruments and case carts using SynergyTrak

Requirements

• CRCST or CSPD certification required (must not expire during the assignment)
• License required if applicable
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Two years of certified SPT experience in a tertiary setting, OR one year of certified experience plus four years of total SPT experience in a tertiary setting
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
• Ability to stand, bend, lift, and reach for extended periods of time
• Manual dexterity required
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
• Two professional references rated 'standard or above average' from the prior year in the current discipline, from a manager or above

Additional Information

• Disassembles, cleans, sterilizes, reassembles, and packages sterile supplies per specifications, manufacturer instructions, and department protocols
• Operates washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic machines, steam and ethylene oxide sterilizers, heat sealers, and related equipment
• Retrieves used trays, instruments, and equipment from surgical and clinical areas for decontamination
• Adheres to instrument count sheets for surgical sets and case carts
• Examines instruments and patient care equipment for cleanliness, proper assembly, and functionality
• Identifies and reports malfunctioning items to supervisor or biomedical engineer
• Assists with ordering, stocking, and maintaining department inventory levels
• Scrubs are provided and must be laundered on-site
• Shoes, jewelry, hair, and beards must be covered; nail polish is not permitted
• Free parking is available on-site
• Local candidates are welcome; candidates living within 60 miles of the facility may be eligible at a reduced rate
