American Traveler is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician for an evening shift position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of SPT experience and CBSPD or HSPA certification.

Details

• Works in a Sterile Processing department within a Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital with 820 staffed beds
• Evening shift: Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM–11:30 PM (5x8s)
• Holiday rotation is required
• Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required, including potential float or permanent reassignment to sister campuses
• Performs sterilization, decontamination, and instrument assembly/wrap
• Processes a wide range of specialty equipment including neuro, GU, robotics, ENT, ortho, transplant, and GYN instrumentation
• Handles scope and probe reprocessing including flexible endoscopes, bronchoscopes, enteroscopes, and fiber optics
• Performs high-level disinfection (HLD) and operates washers/sterilizers
• Assembles case carts and instrument sets/trays
• Uses Epic EMR
• No weekend requirement

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of sterile processing experience required
• Prior travel assignment experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• CBSPD and/or IAHCSMM/HSPA (HSPA) certification required
• Hands-on experience with sterilization, decontamination, and instrument assembly/wrap
• Experience with specialty equipment processing across multiple surgical disciplines (neuro, GU, robotics, ENT, ortho, transplant, GYN)
• SC license required if applicable
• SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are considered local; non-local candidates are prioritized, but local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis
• Previous permanent or PRN staff at any facility in this health system must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler
• All RTO must be submitted at the time of consideration; no RTO will be approved after the contract is signed, and approval is subject to department needs
• Orientation modules are completed prior to the assignment start date
• During hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
• Parking is available at no cost on nights and weekends; a one-time $20 parking pass fee applies at other times
