American Traveler is hiring a Sterile Processing Technician for a large, off-site reprocessing center serving multiple facilities, requiring certification and tertiary setting experience.

Details

• Position is based in a busy, state-of-the-art off-site reprocessing center that serves 9 facilities including tertiary sites and ambulatory surgery centers
• Shift is 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. with every other weekend required
• Involves rotating through all areas including decontamination
• Utilizes STERIS washers, autoclave, and various sterilization equipment
• SynergyTrak is used for tracking and requires familiarity

Requirements

• Sterile processing certification (CRCST or CSPD), valid for the duration of the assignment
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 2 years of certified sterile processing experience in a tertiary setting, or 1 year certified with 4 years of overall SPT experience in a tertiary setting
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods
• Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written
• License required if applicable
• Two professional references from the past year in the sterile processing field

Additional Information

• Duties include disassembling, cleaning, sterilizing, reassembling, and packaging sterile supplies according to specifications and department protocols
• Responsible for operating washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic machines, steam and ethylene oxide sterilizers, and heat sealers
• Expected to adhere to instrument count sheets and retrieve used trays and instruments from multiple hospital and clinical areas
• Examine instruments for cleanliness and functionality, report and document any malfunctions
• Assist with ordering, stocking, and maintaining inventory levels
• Required to maintain a contaminant-free work environment
• Scrubs are provided and must be laundered at the facility; shoes, jewelry, hair, and beard must be covered, and no nail polish is permitted
