American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) with extensive OR and total joints experience for a 13-week acute care contract.

Details

• Position is based in an acute care hospital operating room department
• Work with a variety of surgical cases including general surgery, orthopedics, plastics, podiatry, cataracts, and OB/GYN (non-cancer related)
• Seven-suite OR with an average daily case load of 5-25
• Shifts are 5 days a week, 8 hours per shift (0645-1515), with late stay/emergency call rotations and occasional block scheduling
• On-call night and weekend rotation is required, typically 1-2 times per week for weeknights and 1-2 times per month for 24-hour weekend call shifts
• Call response time requirement is 30 minutes
• May float to other perioperative roles including PACU, sterile processing, or to assist as needed
• Uses Cerner EMR system

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years CST experience with significant general and orthopedic (specifically total joint) cases
• Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) via NBSTSA required
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program with CST certification required
• Current BLS certification from either the AHA or ARC
• Experience in trauma level 3 or 4, or critical access hospital settings preferred
• Experience with plastics preferred
• License required if applicable

• Must be comfortable transitioning between scrubbing and first assisting roles as needed
• Wide range of surgical cases due to rural community hospital environment
• Flexibility and willingness to fill schedule gaps is required
• Unit provides 1-2 shifts of department orientation and 1-2 call shifts with a preceptor
• High standards for professional appearance; scrubs are provided and not to be worn outside the facility
• May be asked to participate in holiday call rotations, with days before and after the holiday possibly included
• Department has a 100-mile radius rule for candidates
