American Traveler is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist First Assist with cardiovascular surgical experience and BLS certification for an acute care Cardiovascular OR assignment.

Details

• Work in an acute care setting with both main hospital and outpatient surgery centers
• Primary assignment in Cardiovascular OR as part of the Certified Surgical Assistant unit
• Caseload includes cardiovascular, general, orthopedic, OB/GYN, urology, ENT, and plastics procedures
• Main hospital features 12 ORs and the outpatient surgery center has 6 ORs
• Shift is Monday through Friday, 7am to 3:30pm, with weekly weeknight call and one weekend call every 4 weeks
• Use of EPIC EMR, Covidien cauteries, Stryker laparoscopic towers, and other surgical equipment
• Floating required between main hospital and outpatient surgery center across the street
• Trauma level 2 environment

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist First Assist with cardiovascular surgical skills
• Experience in CABG, angiograms, endarterectomies, aortic root repairs, valve replacements, AAA, and general surgery procedures required
• BLS certification required
• UAP credential required
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR charting system
• License required if applicable

Additional Information

• Duties include assisting in a variety of procedures across multiple specialties, supporting cardiovascular surgical teams, and providing first assist functions
• Orientation is one week with a dedicated preceptor and detailed preference cards for procedures
• Work closely with a collaborative team of RN First Assists and Surgical Technologist First Assists
• Scrubs are provided in ceil blue color
• All clinicians are required to badge in and out when at the facility
• Holiday and weekend call coverage is required
• This location does not accept local travelers with permanent addresses within 80 miles
• Candidates with prior employment at the facility must have an end date at least 6 months before consideration
