American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with 2 years of OR experience, including Level I trauma and BLS certification, for a busy Main OR unit.

Details

• Work in a Level I trauma, academic teaching, and Magnet hospital OR with 21 suites covering all surgical specialties
• Unit supports complex cases including trauma, transplant, ortho, neuro, ENT, GU/GYN, and robotics
• Schedule consists of 3x12 hour day shifts (6:30am–7:00pm) with one weekend shift per month and holiday rotation
• Up to 4 on-call shifts (end of shift to 7am) per month required
• Floating to similar units may be required to meet facility needs
• Patient population includes adult and pediatric trauma and specialized surgical cases
• EPIC charting is utilized in the Main OR
• Radiation badge is required and must be provided by the agency
• Scrubs are provided by the facility

Requirements

• 2 years of recent OR CST experience required
• Experience in neuro (spines/crani), ENT (flaps), and robotics (DaVinci Xi) highly preferred
• Current NBSTSA certification required; NCCT is not accepted
• AHA BLS certification required
• Radiation safety compliance required
• Must provide SSN and a valid driver’s license for consideration
• Previous perm or PRN staff must have been separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• License required if applicable

Additional Information

• Main job duties include supporting surgical procedures across all specialties, preparing sterile instruments, and assisting with a variety of complex cases
• The surgical team is comprised of both RNs and CSTs, with RN staff skilled in scrub and circulate roles
• Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic OR environment with cutting-edge technology
• All required training modules must be completed prior to starting
• First-time travelers are accepted for this assignment
• Block scheduling requests may be considered but require managerial approval and are not guaranteed
• A 60-mile local radius rule applies; locals may be considered at a reduced rate and must be approved
• All requests for time off (RTO) must be submitted with application and approval depends on facility needs
• Be prepared for possible deployment to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June–November)
• Parking requires a permit obtained from the parking office; $20 registration fee applies
