American Traveler is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist for evening shifts in a Level I trauma acute care hospital with a minimum of 3 years' recent experience required.

Details

• Position is in an acute care Level I trauma center operating room
• Handles a high-volume unit averaging 50–60 surgical cases per day
• Works four 10-hour evening shifts weekly, with hours between 10:45–21:15 and 12:45–23:15
• Weekend shifts required once monthly, totaling 16 hours
• On-call required as needed for department needs
• Floating to other units within scope of practice may occur
• Patient cases cover a range of specialties: ENT, endoscopy, general surgery, gynecology, neurosurgery, oral surgery, orthopedics, plastics, trauma, and urology
• Uses Cerner for charting
• Scrub attire is provided

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Surgical Technologist in a hospital OR setting
• BLS certification required
• CST certification preferred
• Must have recent Level I trauma experience
• Must demonstrate proficiency in ENT, endoscopy, general surgery, gynecology, neurosurgery, oral surgery, orthopedics, plastics, trauma, and urology cases
• Must have experience with operating drills, electrosurgical units, and fiber optic light sources
• Strong working knowledge of aseptic technique, isolation and radiation safety, sharps safety, specimen handling, and universal protocols
• Experience in a teaching hospital preferred
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• First-time travelers will not be considered

• Assist the surgical team in a wide variety of specialized cases in a fast-paced environment
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team in a teaching hospital setting
• Maintain compliance with all departmental protocols and safety guidelines
• Be prepared to participate in fire safety and emergency management procedures as required
• No license required for this role; CST is preferred but not mandatory
• Must be in Illinois three business days prior to compliance deadline for fingerprinting
• RTO must be discussed with and approved by the manager
• Parking permit provided at no cost, form to be completed during orientation
