Description

American Traveler is seeking a Surgical Technologist with at least one year of operating room experience, BLS certification, and Epic charting proficiency for a hospital surgery unit.

Details

• Position is based in a hospital surgical department supporting a variety of specialties
• Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, four days per week
• Level 1 trauma environment requiring prior trauma experience
• Use of Epic EMR is required

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of recent surgical technologist experience in a hospital setting
• Associate's degree in Surgical Technology or completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Epic EMR experience required
• IDPH Fingerprinting required
• Fluency in English (speak, read, write)
• Critical thinking skills and ability to use independent judgment
• Multicultural sensitivity required
• License required if applicable
• Applicants must live more than 50 miles from the facility (no locals eligible)
• Level 1 trauma experience must be documented for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include preparing for and assisting in both routine and complex operative and invasive procedures
• Expected to set up and maintain sterile fields and surgical instruments efficiently and effectively
• Acts as a resource and may train new technologists and students, serving as an informal lead as needed
• Will independently scrub simple to complex cases and adapt to varying surgeon preferences and techniques
• On-call hours are required including after-hours, weekends, and holidays
• Must be able to teach RNs how to scrub for various cases
• Adherence to hospital call shifts and prompt response when on-call is mandatory
• Must provide no more than 7 days of requested time off per 13-week contract
• Contingent workers may not remain on assignment for more than 1 year without a 6-month break before returning
• Compliance with drug screen and background checks required before start date
