American Traveler is seeking a CVOR Certified Surgical First Assistant with recent cardiovascular and vein harvesting experience for a hospital-based position.

Details

• Position is in a hospital CVOR setting as a Certified Surgical First Assistant
• Work Monday through Friday from 6:45 AM to 3:15 PM
• Call rotation is one week on, one week off, primarily to finish over-run cases
• Patient population includes open heart, VATS, and vascular procedures
• Requires experience with vein harvesting

Requirements

• VA license required if applicable
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum of 1 year of recent heart surgical experience
• Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assistant
• Certification as a Surgical First Assistant required prior to consideration for agency staff
• Surgical Assistants with more than two years of SFA experience, and not currently certified, must obtain certification within six months of hire
• New graduates from a Certified Surgical First Assist program must become certified within one year
• Must pass EKG testing on the first day (two attempts allowed; study guides provided)

Additional Information

• Responsible for patient positioning, maintaining exposure, tying sutures, dressing application, and skin closure under direct supervision
• Assist with setting up the operating room, maintaining sterile technique, room turnover, and restocking supplies
• Work closely with the charge nurse and serve as a resource for procedures
• Medical staff privileging process is required and may take 4–6 weeks before starting
• Must maintain certification as a surgical assistant throughout employment
• Radius rule of 50 miles applies to all candidates
