Description

American Traveler seeks an experienced Certified Surgical First Assistant for day shifts in a hospital operating room, requiring at least 5 years of CSFA experience.

Details

• Position is based in a hospital operating room setting
• Day shifts from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with 10-hour shifts
• Requires 1-2 nights of call per week and every fourth weekend
• Assists with a variety of surgical procedures alongside the surgical technologist and registered nurse

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) experience required
• Active certification through NBSTSA or ABSA required
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification required
• Skills checklist specific to Certified Surgical First Assist completed within the last year required
• Two supervisory references from the past two years required
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (local candidates not considered)
• License required if applicable

Additional Information

• Responsible for preparing the surgical suite and ensuring all supplies and equipment are ready and functional
• Assists the surgeon with exposure, hemostasis, closure, draping, retracting, suctioning, sponging, suturing, tissue handling, and cautery techniques
• Applies dressing materials specific to each procedure
• Works collaboratively with the surgical technologist, registered nurse, and operating room team
• Participates in patient transportation, positioning, and overall care within the surgical environment
• No more than five days of requested time off (RTO) can be accommodated for this assignment
