Description

American Traveler is seeking a Surgical Assistant with recent operating room experience and current CSA or CSFA certification for a travel position in a busy orthopedic surgery OR.

Details

• Work in an orthopedic surgery operating room within a large hospital setting
• Multi-specialty perioperative environment including general surgery, orthopedics, neuro, spinal, ENT/radical neck, gynecology, urology, cardiovascular, thoracic, vascular, trauma, plastics, colon-rectal, and pediatric cases
• Schedule is Monday through Friday with 10-hour shifts starting at 7 or 9 AM
• No weekend or call requirements
• Overtime as needed
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Graduate of a Surgical Assistant Program with relevant operating room experience within the past 3 years
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Certification as a Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) through NCCSA or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) through NBSTSA required
• At least 2 years of specialty experience and/or 3 completed travel assignments in similar setting
• Demonstrated ability to adapt in perioperative settings and communicate effectively
• Active license required if applicable
• COVID-19 vaccination and booster required

Additional Information

• First assist surgeons and physicians in operating room procedures, including suturing, positioning, and proper use of instrumentation
• Maintain surgical aseptic technique and anticipate the needs of surgical teams
• Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team with minimal supervision
• Must be able to communicate with patients and staff in a patient-centered, empathetic, and clear manner
• Returning travelers may stay for one calendar year before a break is required
• Allow at least 2 weeks for background check and drug screen processing
