American Traveler is seeking a Surgical Assistant experienced in colon-rectal and multi-specialty surgery for a travel assignment requiring current BLS and surgical assistant certification.

Details

• Work in a hospital operating room specializing in colon-rectal and a variety of perioperative surgical specialties
• Patient population includes general, orthopedic, neuro, spinal, ENT/radical neck, GYN, urology, cardiovascular, thoracic, vascular, trauma, plastic, colon-rectal, and pediatric surgery cases
• Monday to Friday schedule with 10-hour shifts starting at 7 or 9 AM, overtime as needed, no weekends and no call required
• Uses Epic EMR for charting; experience with Epic is preferred

Requirements

• Graduate of a Surgical Assistant Program with relevant operating room experience in the last 3 years
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Certified as a CSA (NCCSA) or CSFA (NBSTSA) is required for travelers
• Minimum of 2 years of specialty experience, or 3 completed travel assignments in the relevant field
• Proficient in human surgical anatomy, use of surgical instrumentation, and surgical patient positioning
• Must have an active license; license required if applicable
• COVID vaccination and booster required

Additional Information

• Assist surgeons in the performance of operative procedures, including suturing, instrumentation, and anticipating surgeon needs
• Work independently and collaboratively in a multi-specialty perioperative environment
• Strong patient-centered communication and ability to adapt to unpredictable settings are essential
• Familiarity with perioperative policies, aseptic technique, and procedural guidelines required
• Assignment is limited to one calendar year from initial start date, with a mandatory 30-60 day break before returning
• Professional scrubs are required
• No first-time travelers will be considered
