Description

American Traveler seeks an experienced Operating Room Technician First Assist for a hospital OR, requiring current BLS certification and completion of a recognized surgical technologist and first assistant program.

Details

• Work in a hospital operating room including coverage for both the Main OR and Women’s unit
• 12-hour day shifts: 07:00 to 19:30, Monday through Friday
• Weekday call coverage required from end of scheduled shift through 07:00 AM the next morning
• Weekend and holiday call coverage from 07:00 AM to 07:00 AM the following day

Requirements

• Graduate of a certified surgical technician program and a recognized first assistant training program
• Certified Surgical First Assistant (CFSA) certification through CAAHEP or ABHES required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required through American Red Cross or AHA
• At least 2 years of experience as a surgical technician
• Minimum of 1 year experience as a surgical tech first assist required
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• License required if applicable

Additional Information

• First Assists may be assigned to the surgical tech role as needed throughout the week
• Provide direct support during surgical procedures including patient positioning, prepping, controlling bleeding, and wound closure
• Responsible for instrument handling, retractor use, and properly dressing wounds
• Collaborate with surgeons and surgical team to ensure effective post-operative care
• References dated within the last 12 months may be requested
• Skills checklist dated within the last 12 months may be required
• All requests for time off should be communicated as early as possible
• Trauma level and EMR details may be requested for consideration
