American Traveler seeks a Surgical Tech with at least 1 year of operating room experience, including ortho total joints and robotics, for an acute care assignment.

Details

• Work in an acute hospital operating room with 8 OR suites and 1 cystoscopy room
• Performs cases including general, ortho (total joints), urology (about 70% of cases), vascular, podiatry, and C-sections
• Handles 15-25 cases per day, both inpatient and same-day surgery
• Cerner EMR is used; experience required, unit will transition to Epic in April 2025
• Schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00AM to 3:30PM, with additional call requirements
• Weeknight call required once per week starting at 5PM; weekend call required one weekend per month from Friday evening to Monday morning
• Holiday call rotation may be required
• 30 minute call response time
• No floating required

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a Surgical Tech in an operating room setting
• Experience in ortho total joints, urology, and robotics is required
• Must be able to perform C-sections
• BLS certification from AHA required
• Must provide an unexpired driver’s license for consideration
• License required if applicable

Additional Information

• Assists surgeons during procedures including scrubbing and handling instruments
• Works as part of a team with 9 Surgical Techs and 3 assistants, with support from both charge nurse and manager
• Department provides 3-5 days of orientation with a preceptor
• Scrubs are provided; candidates should arrive presentable to the hospital
• Must live at least 50 miles away from the facility; no local travelers accepted
• Returning employees must have a 2-year break from any WVU Medicine location before being eligible for another assignment
• Cumulative WVU assignments may not exceed 1 year without a 2-year break
