American Traveler is seeking an experienced Dialysis Technician with CCHT and BLS certifications for an outpatient hemodialysis unit using Cerner EMR.

Details

• Work in a post-acute outpatient dialysis setting with 8 chairs
• Department operates 2 shifts of patients per day, 3 days a week (M/W/F or Tu/Th/Sat)
• Patient population consists of adults with ESRD requiring dialysis
• Typical patient load is 16 patients per day and 32 patients per week
• Staffing includes RNs, NPs, technicians, and CNAs with a 1:4 tech to patient ratio
• Use of Cerner EMR for charting and documentation
• Four 10-hour day shifts each week, with start times between 5-6 AM and one rotating day off
• Every other weekend required, covering Friday and Saturday
• Department is open on all holidays except Christmas, with holiday rotation typically every third holiday
• No call, standby, or floating requirements

Requirements

• Current BLS certification required
• Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) credential via NNCC required
• Minimum of 3 years of dialysis technician experience required
• Experience working in an outpatient dialysis setting
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR preferred
• Must meet a 100-mile radius rule for eligibility
• License required if applicable
• No first-time travelers will be considered for this position

Additional Information

• Duties include preparing and maintaining dialysis machines, patient prep, needle insertion and removal, and monitoring patients during treatments
• Responsible for cleaning and disinfecting equipment according to infection control guidelines
• Expected to educate patients on basic aspects of dialysis and promptly report changes to RN
• CNA-related responsibilities include greeting and rooming patients, obtaining initial vitals, updating health records, and assisting with pre- and post-dialysis care under RN supervision
• Three orientation shifts with a preceptor provided
• Any color scrubs allowed but ankles must be covered; lab coats provided
