American Traveler is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist First Assist (OR Tech - First Assist) with at least one year of first assist experience for a hospital operating room assignment.

Details

• Work in the main OR and Women's OR at a hospital setting
• 12-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday from 07:00 to 19:30
• Weekend and holiday call required, covering 24-hour periods as assigned
• Float as needed to cover standard surgical tech duties throughout the week
• Directly assist in surgical procedures, including positioning, prepping, and instrument handling

Requirements

• Graduate of a certified surgical technologist program and recognized first assistant training program
• Certified Surgical First Assistant (CFSA) through CAAHEP or ABHES or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
• Valid BLS certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• At least two years of experience as a surgical technician
• Minimum one year experience as a surgical tech first assist required
• High school diploma or equivalent
• License required if applicable

Additional Information

• Assist the surgeon with patient positioning, prepping, and maintaining clear visibility at the surgical site
• Control bleeding, close surgical sites with sutures or staples, and properly dress wounds
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, doctors, and other staff to ensure optimal patient care before, during, and after surgery
• First assists are expected to perform the full scope of both surgical tech and first assist responsibilities as needed
• Call coverage rotations include weekdays from shift end to 07:00 and weekends/holidays for 24-hour periods
• RTO (Requested Time Off) must be provided at time of consideration
