Description

American Traveler is seeking a Surgical Technologist with at least 2 years of experience and an active MI license for a busy hospital surgical department.

Details

• Work in a hospital surgery department with a focus on total joints (orthopedics) and general surgery procedures involving robotics
• Day shifts from 7:00am to 7:30pm, five days per week
• On-call required for 2-3 weeknight shifts every 6 weeks to support the in-house team, with a 1-hour response time
• Potential to float to a nearby sister hospital as needed
• No blocked scheduling is offered

Requirements

• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required or must be obtained within one month of start date
• Active Michigan Surgical Technologist license required if applicable
• At least 2 years of recent experience as a Surgical Technologist
• High school diploma or GED required
• Physical ability to lift and move patients, push/pull/lift carts, trays, and equipment, and endure prolonged standing and walking
• COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory

Additional Information

• Responsible for scrubbing on general surgical cases and preparing operating rooms with necessary instruments and supplies
• Expected to ensure equipment is functioning and follow departmental safety and infection control standards
• Provides support related to patient preparation, transport, and specific patient care duties
• Assists with stock management, maintains a clean and organized environment, and delivers supplies as necessary
• May help train or precept new Surgical Technologist staff on the unit
• Participation in ongoing education and departmental audits is required
• Candidates must complete required online modules and pass associated tests prior to the start date
• Candidates must report to the lab for drug screening within 24 hours of commitment
