American Traveler seeks an experienced CVOR Certified Surgical First Assistant with recent vein harvesting experience and BLS certification.

Details

• Work in a hospital CVOR unit focusing on cardiovascular surgical procedures
• Monday through Friday 8-hour shifts with a 6:30 AM start time
• Call required every third night and every third weekend
• Care for cardiovascular patient populations including cases requiring vein harvesting
• Local candidates accepted under different compensation terms
• Pass/Fail EKG testing required on the first day with two attempts allowed

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of recent CVOR Certified Surgical First Assistant experience required
• Recent experience with vein harvesting is mandatory
• BLS certification required
• Travel experience is required
• High School diploma and graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical First Assistant school required
• Must maintain certification as a Surgical Assistant; if not certified, must obtain certification within six months of hire (for those with more than two years of SFA experience) or within one year for new graduates
• License required if applicable
• Must pass EKG testing on the first day of assignment

Additional Information

• Responsible for patient positioning, exposure, tying sutures, dressing application, and closing the skin during surgical procedures
• Set up and maintain the sterile operating room environment and assist with room turnover
• Work closely with the charge nurse for assignments and act as a resource for procedures
• Must coordinate with the surgical team and follow the standards of the CSA
• Required to restock supplies used in surgery and maintain readiness of operating room equipment
• Scrub attire must be worn in accordance with hospital policy
• 50-mile radius rule applies for eligibility
