American Traveler is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist for a day-shift hospital OR role requiring advanced specialty case skills and a strong trauma background.

Details

• Work in a Level I trauma center with a daily surgical volume of 50-60 cases
• General OR setting with cases spanning ENT, endoscopy, general surgery, gynecology, neurosurgery, oral, orthopedics, plastics, trauma, and urology
• Day shift: 5x8 hours from 6:45 AM to 3:15 PM
• Weekend shifts required one weekend per month totaling 16 hours
• On-call duties as needed for departmental needs
• Floating to other units or affiliate hospitals within scope required
• Cerner EMR system used; experience with Cerner preferred
• Teaching hospital environment with Magnet status

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of surgical technologist experience in hospital OR settings
• Level I trauma experience required
• Experience with general, ENT, endoscopy, gynecology, neurosurgery, oral, orthopedic, plastic, trauma, and urology cases
• BLS certification required from AHA or Red Cross; CST certification preferred
• Proficiency with specialized equipment including drills, electrosurgical units, and fiber optic light sources
• Knowledge of aseptic technique, isolation and radiation safety, sharps safety, and universal protocol procedures
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility
• Ability to arrive in Illinois 3 business days prior to compliance date for fingerprinting requirements

Additional Information

• Duties include setting up operating rooms, assisting during a wide variety of surgical procedures, and ensuring proper instrument and supply management
• Staff scrubs are provided for this assignment
• All time off must be reviewed and approved by department manager; up to 5 non-holiday days are auto-approved
• Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the assignment
• Parking permit is required and provided at no cost
• Orientation includes virtual onboarding modules completed on day one
• Candidates must comply with fingerprinting, documentation, and annual training requirements
• Former employees must have a 12-month break in service before applying as travelers
