Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist with large OR and team-oriented experience for a hospital operating room assignment.

Details

• Operates within a hospital operating room (OR) environment
• Float between departments or local locations within 20 miles is required
• Three 12-hour weekend shifts from 0630 to 1900
• Handles a broad range of surgical procedures; Ortho, ENT, and vascular experience are a plus
• Epic EMR experience preferred but not required; training provided if needed

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of current experience in a large OR setting required
• High school diploma or GED required
• Completion of a Surgical Technician training program or graduation from an accredited school, or Certified Surgical Technologist credential (NBSTSA or NCCT) plus ten years of experience
• BLS certification required from American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross
• Must be flexible, a team player, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• License required if applicable
• No candidates within a 50-mile radius will be considered

Additional Information

• Assist surgeons by preparing and providing instruments and equipment during surgical procedures
• Maintain proper aseptic technique and ensure patient safety in the OR
• Perform and maintain counts of sponges, needles, and instruments during procedures
• Secure and prepare all necessary supplies and instruments before surgery
• Prepare patient skin and assist with patient positioning and re-positioning during surgery
• Support pre-operative care and handle specimens according to protocol
• Keep current with equipment, procedures, and intraoperative medications
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills related to surgical procedures
• Candidates must wait one year after working as a perm staff member before being reconsidered as a traveler
• Pass/fail testing requirements do not apply to surgical technologists
