Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Certified Surgical First Assist with Da Vinci robotic experience and BLS certification for surgical procedures across multiple specialties.

Details

• Role is in a hospital surgical services department with 11 operating suites
• Diverse case mix including robotics, spine, ortho, laparoscopic, general, GYN, urology, and vascular surgeries
• Da Vinci robotic system expertise required
• No transplant cases
• 10-hour shifts from 6:45 am to 5:15 pm with 6-8 call shifts per 6-week period, including overnights, holidays, and weekends
• Candidates must be flexible with scheduling

Requirements

• Active BLS certification required
• Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) or Certified First Assistant (CFA) required
• Active VA license required if applicable
• Minimum of 2 years' experience as a surgical first assist required
• High school diploma and graduation from an accredited surgical technology and surgical assistant program required
• Experience in most surgical specialties listed is required
• Da Vinci robotic experience is required
• Must pass EKG testing on first day with up to two attempts (study guides provided)
• Additional credentialing through BSMH required by VA

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include assisting with patient positioning, surgical exposure, suturing, dressing application, and skin closure
• Assist in setup and turnover of operating rooms and restocking surgical supplies
• Work closely with the charge nurse and surgical team as a resource for procedures
• Maintain certification as a surgical assistant throughout assignment
• Team-oriented work environment with a focus on patient safety and sterile technique
• Second interview with the unit manager required
• Applicants must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
