Description

American Traveler is seeking a Surgical Technologist with at least two years of large OR experience and valid BLS certification for a high-acuity hospital position.

Details

• Position is in a hospital operating room setting with responsibilities for scrub functions
• Serves a range of surgical service lines including ortho, ENT, and vascular cases
• 12-hour shifts scheduled Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 0630 to 1900
• Floating between departments and local locations within 20 miles is required
• Uses Epic EMR; experience preferred but on-site training provided

Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of current experience in a large operating room is required
• High school diploma or GED and completion of a Surgical Technician training program or graduation from an accredited school, or CST credential via NBSTSA or NCCT with ten years of experience
• BLS certification from American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross is required
• Ortho, ENT, or vascular experience is preferred
• Must be a team player, flexible, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Epic EMR experience preferred; training available on-site
• License required if applicable

Additional Information

• No local candidates accepted; must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Return staff must wait one year before being eligible for travel positions
• Must adhere to proper aseptic technique and perform instrument counts prior to and during procedures
• Responsibilities include organizing surgical equipment, assisting with patient positioning, monitoring patients intraoperatively, and maintaining the sterile field
• Correct handling and routing of surgical specimens is required
• Continued professional development through seminars, workshops, and publications is encouraged
• Onboarding includes site-specific training and orientation
