Description

American Traveler is seeking a Surgical First Assist with at least 2 years of experience and advanced experience with the DaVinci Robot for a multi-specialty operating room position.

Details

• Work in a hospital surgical unit with robotics, spine, orthopedic, laparoscopic, general, GYN, urology, and vascular procedures
• Involvement with patients of all ages
• Day shift, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm with 8-hour shifts
• Call schedule includes 6 on-call shifts and one weekend every 6-week period
• DaVinci Robot experience required and regularly used

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years' experience as a surgical assistant
• BLS certification required
• Valid VA license, CSA, or CFA certification required; license required if applicable
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology and Surgical Assistant program required
• Surgical assistants with over 2 years of experience must obtain certification within 6 months if not already certified
• New graduates must obtain certification within 1 year
• Robotics experience, specifically with DaVinci, required
• Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility
• Additional credentialing through BSMH and state of VA required

Additional Information

• Main responsibilities include patient positioning, retraction for exposure, tying sutures, assisting with dressing application, and wound closure
• Assist with preparing, maintaining, and breaking down the operating room and equipment
• Work closely with the charge nurse and act as a resource for procedures
• Maintain ongoing certification as a surgical assistant
• Pass/fail EKG testing may be required on the first day, with study guides provided
• Scrub attire and compliance with sterile technique required at all times
• No prior travel experience is required for consideration
• Local candidates within a 50-mile radius are not eligible
