American Traveler is seeking a certified Sterile Processing Technician with at least 2 years of experience for an evening shift role in a short-term acute care setting.

Details

• Work in the Sterile Processing department of a short-term acute care hospital
• Evening shift hours are 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm, working five 8-hour shifts per week
• Rotating weekend day shift and on-call required
• Processes a wide range of specialty equipment including bariatric, cardiac, dental, ENT, endoscopy, general, laparoscopic, neurology, OB/GYN, ophthalmology, orthopedics, plastics, podiatry, robotics, urology, and vascular equipment
• Cerner used for charting
• Scrubs are hunter green and are provided

Requirements

• Certified SPD Technician (CBSPD or IAHCSMM/HSPA required)
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in sterile processing
• Skilled in decontamination, disinfection, aseptic technique, case cart and tray assembly, equipment documentation, preference cards, and sterilization wrapping procedures
• Experience in reprocessing endoscopes and scope/probe reprocessing
• Familiarity with SPM (Sterile Processing Microsystem)
• Acute hospital OR experience preferred
• License required if applicable

Additional Information

• Responsible for assembling and sterilizing surgical instruments and trays
• Uses and monitors various sterilization methods including biological, chemical, gas, steam, Steris, and Sterrad processes
• Required to adhere to proper selection and use of wrapping materials and preference card protocols
• Must provide two recent supervisor references for consideration
• Up to 7 days of requested time off may be approved per 13-week contract, with no time off permitted during the first two weeks
• First-time travelers with appropriate experience may be considered
• Return staff must have a minimum 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
• No parking fees for staff
