American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with at least 2 years of recent acute hospital and ophthalmology experience for a perioperative day shift position.

• Hospital-based surgical services unit
• Day shift schedule with 4x10 hour shifts starting at 9:00 AM
• Weekend and on-call shifts required as needed
• Primary focus on scrub role for perioperative care including ophthalmology, ortho, neuro, and robotics cases
• Patient population includes adolescents through late adulthood undergoing major and minor surgical procedures
• Epic EMR experience preferred

Requirements

• Active NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
• Minimum of 2 years recent acute care hospital experience as a surgical technologist
• Demonstrated proficiency in ophthalmology, especially cataract and vitrectomy procedures
• Experience required in at least three surgical specialties including ortho, neuro, and robotics
• California state license required if applicable
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Must have recent travel experience as a surgical technologist
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment

Additional Information

• Role involves preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative duties as part of the perioperative team
• Performs scrub duties, prepares and maintains sterile fields, and assists surgeons with specialized instruments and equipment
• Supports the safe care and transfer of surgical specimens and assists with patient transfers
• Acts as a technical subject matter expert for at least one surgical service and may serve as preceptor for staff
• Requires participation in continuing education and orientation modules, which are completed electronically
• Only one holiday request for time off (RTO) will be approved per contract
• Candidates must be available to complete lab work within 3-5 days of signing
• Return staff must be gone at least one year to be rehired as travelers
• 50 mile radius rule applies; locals are accepted at a local rate
