American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist with broad specialty experience for a 13-week ambulatory OR assignment in South Carolina.

Details

• Ambulatory surgical setting with 2 ORs, 2 GI procedural rooms, and 1 VIR procedural room
• Patient population includes Orthopedics (total joints, arthroscopy, hand, shoulder, elbow), Interventional Radiology (VIR), and GI cases
• No general surgery, L&D, or pediatric cases on this unit
• Four 10-hour day shifts per week, 6:30am to 5:00pm, with scheduled late days a few times monthly and day off determined by department needs
• No call required
• Potential to float within the perioperative facility as needed
• Uses Epic EMR system

Requirements

• Active SC or Compact Surgical Tech license required if applicable
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
• Minimum of 1 year recent surgical technology experience
• Experience in Ophthalmology, Ortho, ENT, GYN, GU, Endocrine, Surgical Oncology, Plastics, Robotics, and Total Joints required
• Radiation badge required, provided by parent company
• Ability to provide 2 recent professional references from supervisors
• SSN and valid driver’s license required for consideration

• Not open to first-time travelers
• Local candidates accepted if living within a 60-mile radius
• Previous permanent or PRN staff must be separated from the health system for 1 year before eligibility
• All requested time off must be declared and approved prior to assignment; multiple requests in an 8-13 week contract typically not approved
• Job responsibilities include assisting in specialized surgical procedures across a wide range of adult specialties excluding general surgery, L&D, and pediatrics
• Team comprises 10 RNs and 1 PCT for pre-op/PACU with close collaboration between surgeons, anesthesia, and OR nurses
• Competency modules to be completed pre-start
• All staff may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season, which runs June through November
• Scrub color or dress code will be communicated by the facility
