American Traveler is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician with hospital OR experience and IAHCSMM/HSPA certification for a 13-week day shift contract.

Details

• Work in a hospital sterile processing department
• Day shift, 5x8 hours from 6:00 to 14:30
• Responsible for surgical instrument reprocessing for a variety of specialties including general, neuro, ortho/total joints, ophthalmology, urology, and more
• Handles endoscopes, cystoscopes, flex sigmoidoscopes, uteroscopes, and loaner consignment trays
• Utilizes washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaners, and follows aseptic technique
• Scrubs are provided
• Unit accepts first-time travelers

Requirements

• IAHCSMM or HSPA certification required
• Experience in an acute hospital OR setting required
• Skills in manual cleaning, use of chemical agents, decontamination, sterilization wrapping, and case cart management
• Experience in endoscope and scope/probe reprocessing
• Experience organizing and assembling instrument trays and proper documentation
• Valid state license required if applicable
• Two supervisor references from the last two years required

Additional Information

• Perform biological and chemical indicator testing, steam sterilization testing/monitoring, and immediate-use steam sterilization (IUSS)
• Preferred skills include experience with Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM) and additional surgical specialties such as bariatric, dental, ENT, implants, OB/GYN, plastics, podiatry, transplant, trauma, vascular, and gas or Steris/Sterrad testing
• Expected to follow all safety and infection control protocols
• Modules to be completed pre-start and during orientation, tracked via transcripts
• Candidates within 60 miles may be accepted as locals at a different pay rate
• Return staff must have a one-year gap from previous employment to be considered
