American Traveler is seeking a Radiation Therapist with a minimum of 2 years of experience and ARRT(T) certification for a float coverage role across two outpatient radiation oncology clinic sites in the Wilmington, NC coastal region.

Details

• Outpatient radiation oncology clinic setting with float coverage between two clinic sites in the Wilmington, NC coastal region
• Primary site is equipped with 3 Varian linacs and one CT simulator; sister site (approx. 30-minute drive) has one Varian TrueBeam and a Siemens CT simulator
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Floating is required between the two clinic locations; sister site is approximately 10–29 miles away
• Shift is typically 5x8s (Mon–Fri, 8:00–17:00, occasionally 9:00–18:00) or 4x10s (7:00–17:30 or 8:00–18:30 with 30-min lunch), depending on clinic needs
• No call or weekend requirements
• Uses ARIA for electronic medical records
• No block cutting, independent CT sims, or independent dose calculations are expected of the traveler

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of relevant Radiation Therapy experience required
• Active ARRT(T) certification required; license required if applicable
• Current BLS certification required
• Experience with external beam therapy and IMRT required
• Proficiency with Varian systems (Varian 21 EX/IX, Eclipse) and Aria EMR
• Experience with CT simulation, CBCT/kV/mV imaging, and tumor localization
• Familiarity with custom molds, custom shields, beam modifying/positioning, and wedges
• Experience with MRI, PET scan, and radiation safety protocols
• Ability to work independently with another therapist at all times; will never be placed as the sole therapist on site
• Two manager/supervisor references from within the past 2 years required; pending references at time of consideration are acceptable but must be on file prior to start

Additional Information

• No facility orientation or DIMENSIONS training required — travelers begin working directly in the clinic
• Pre-completion of online modules (approx. 4–5 hours for non-acute roles) is required before the start date
• An MD and RN are on-site throughout the day at both clinic locations
• Candidates who previously worked for this health system or its affiliated facilities as permanent, PRN, or per-episode staff must wait 12 months before being considered as a traveler; prior employment history should be disclosed
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but may be subject to a different pay rate
• RTO is not permitted during the first week of assignment; up to 7 days of RTO may be approved if it does not fall on a holiday, and more requires facility approval
• Holiday coverage is required — candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• No RTO requests will be accommodated after booking; call-offs or additional RTO could result in contract cancellation
• Royal Blue scrubs required; not provided by the facility
• Travel pairs are allowed provided each candidate has their own transportation and is comfortable with potentially different schedules
• Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and could be required to report during a catastrophic event or disaster
